Two Kiwis In Budapest!

A few weeks ago Amanda and I spotted a bunch of cheap Ryan Air flights to random European locations, and we ended up settling on 7€ tickets to Budapest Hungary...not so bad!

So on Saturday morning we set off on our mission to Paris Beauvais airport, and arrived in Budapest in the afternoon.

We stayed at the apartment of Hanna-(first year from Budapest)'s brother. It was really flash, and we had it all to ourselves for the weekend! And we explored the city for the next few days.

We strolled the streets.

Ate plenty of Hungarian food like Beef Goulash!

Went on a tour of the spectacular parliament building. An incredible history of communist leadership that only ended in 1991!

Drank plenty of the local beer.

Had a great end-of-day swim at the hot baths.

Snuck into a circus.

Went to the House of Terror museum which focussed on the Nazi occupation in Hungary. Full on. Really great museum - it offers a real experience.

Had a wine tasting in a centuries old cellar underneath a castle. I got the giggles when the Somelier mentioned the wine we were drinking had a subtle taste of "Tomato Juice." It was quite embarrassing.

Visited St. Stephen's Basilica.

And castles.

It was a great weekend. A time for us to chill out and hang out. And the city was cool. Quite simple. Very beautiful, but modest. And people were friendly (although most of the men looked like James Bond villains). And for 7€...why not?!?
