Hurry! Hurry! Wait...

And so the adventure has begun...again!

Been a bit too laxed about time today…A bit laxed getting to the airport but that was fine. Then sat with Mum and Dad and Pop and Amanda for about two hours which was really nice. Had a nice breakfast with them out in the sun on the veranda in a rush. Then forgot to say goodbye to Hercules! :( Whilst at the airport I got a phone call from Timbo and Aaron which was really nice. I’ve had a lot of love and good wishes sent my way for this trip. Then said my goodbyes to family and Amanda. Which was a mixture of sad, excited, scared and happy emotions. I walked through the departures gate feeling pretty weird! I’ve never been away from my friends and family for nine months! But I know in the scheme of things it’s really nothing. And this time will fly by! So I’ve really got to cherish every moment of it. Anyway – I was pretty durr brains once I got into the departures area. I entered it when I was supposed to be boarding! I don’t know what the fuck I was thinking.
TIME TO W A K E U P N O W GUY.

So I was just kind of strolling around in the departures area. Got some new toothpaste. Tried some vodka at Duty Free. I guess I just forgot about time for a moment and that my plane would be leaving on time. I think I did this because I looked at my boarding pass and it had no gate number on it. So I went to the screens and my flight was there but had no gate number next to it. So I figured it didn’t have a gate yet and it would come on the screen soon. I checked the screen a few times too! So I wandered more…And then I finally thought ‘wait a second what’s the time’ and realized it was unlikely my plane would be that late. And so I walked further around the airport and then started walking faster – found my gate number on another screen (which said ‘gate closed’ = fuuuuck) – and then heard my name “GUY LANGFORD. EVERYONE IS WAITING FOR YOU” – and I walked faster. Then turned up at my gate where a bunch of Malaysia Airways people said “are you Guy Langford” and then cancelled my bag being removed from the plane and all took the liberty of reminding me I should never be late for flights and that if I was two minutes late I would have missed my flight. PHEW! But that screen didn’t have a gate number on it! But then…why was I the only idiot who didn’t click? I guess my mind is a bit cuckoo at the moment. A bit sedated (love perhaps?). I haven’t got into serious traveler mode…but this has been a good wake up call and I will from now on!

So now I’m on my first flight. Auckland to Kuala Lumpur. 10.5 hours. I’m at the back end of the plane. Aisle seat. There are three seats between me and the next passenger. My mini stress (I actually didn’t really have time to stress) has nearly exited my body and I’m now settling into the flight. After this one there’s a two hour stop over where I’ll hunt down a Malaysian Mee Goreng. Then about 13 hours Kuala Lumpur to Paris. Voila!

Now for Toy Story 3...!
