This morning I headed back to the American Church in the hopes of finding accommodation and a job. No accommodation. But I got a job interview! Will be for teaching english to and playing with some young children who spent three years in India with their family, and now their parents want them to keep up their English. So fingers crossed for that. I don't know if it will work because I'd need to get to their house before 7pm each night. And school is quite far out of town. And it finishes at 6pm. I told her this and we're still meeting on Saturday. So hopefully something works out?
Had a great lunch from the markets in Les Halles. Sat and ate a kind of gourmet french street market hotdog on the park in front of the eiffel tower.
Wanted to check out Cité Universitaire where Judith suggested could be a great place to live in. Went and sat at the the train station for about 45 mins but the train never came. There are strikes going on at the moment and so it's pretty unreliable. Bummer!
Ended up bumming around in a town a bit. Discovered that near Chatelet Les Halles is where a whole bunch of english speaking pubs are. Irish and Aussie ones. Got given a pamphlet with all of them on it. So a bit later on that will be a good resource for CV drop offs.
This evening I went and met up with an old high school/Wellington friend Lorenzo Pradel! His Dad is french so he's always been a French speaker, and he's here working and having a bit of an OE experience. Was really great to see him. His girlfriend Wallace from NZ was in Paris too! So we went out for dinner and then got a crépe after. Very cool. He helped answer a few questions I had about Paris life, and we're going to meet up on Sunday and he's gonna help me out with accommodation searching. Then we're gonna go see The Social Network.
Sounds like my Young & Hungry play. Oohhhhhhh.
