This morning I got up and went to do my laundry ('lavarie') down near Chateau Rouge. It took me a while to work things out (one machine controlled everything in the room - the washing machines, driers, and washing powder distributer) but eventually figured things out. Well, I kind of did. I set my clothes to wash, but I washed them on 'Setting 1' which turned out to be the longest and hottest of all the wash options. So I think I've shrunk most of my clothes, and the great 'Hi I'm Guy from NZ. Please be nice to me' T-shirt that Cherie made for me now has no text on it. The heat must have burned the words off! So that was disappointing.
Whatever you do, don't choose 'Setting 1'.
On an upside, I did start reading a new book 'The Tormentor' by Philippe Gaulier which was good.
I like this quote:
"The Game and the imagination are thick as thieves. The Game allows things that are unbelievable and marvellous. Enjoy pretending to feel, without feeling. The pleasure of lying will give your lies the appearance of truth. You will be believed. Theatre lives off this 'lying truth'."
Later on I went to a show (or 'spectacle' which I much prefer!) off Metro Quatre Septembre at Theatre Bouffes Parisiens. It was called 'Imagine Toi' and starred Julien Cottereau in a one-man mime show. He was super talented. Very light and joyful. Very likeable and enjoyable to watch. He had a microphone attached to him and he made lots of sound effects along with his mime. It was similar to 'The Umbilical Brothers' in this way, but more child-friendly and he never spoke to the audience. He interacted with several audience members onstage which was very cool. There was a lovely moment in which he played imaginary hacky-sack with a 10yr old(?) boy. And a wonderful ending when he wrote mimed letters then sealed them in envelopes, and then gave them to all the members of the audience who were involved in the show.

Theatre Bouffes Parisiens.
Poster for the spectacle.
The show in 3.02mins...
Apparently my girlfriend has her own radio station in Paris.
Cherie, I thought we were done with all the secrets!
After the show I went had a stroll near the Pompidou, then met with Mark and had some food at his apartment. I was holding back though because I had a date with a pie later on at Jacinta's place! Jacinta and Trygvi both made delicious pies, a vegetarian spinach and feta one, and a steak and guiness one. Tres bien!
The pies.
Adriano, Jacinta, and Amber. All Australian. All keen pie eaters.
Arrived at my apartment at 10pm to find the place smelling of Marijuana. AND the key was left inside. This new room-mate is not doing himself any favours...
