Day Thirteen - Disney Mania!

Despite the groans and judgements of Adriano who (quite rightly) said there are much better things to do in Paris than go to Euro Disney...we went. Oli and Marieke ended up coming too which doubled the fun! I've been to Disneyland California before and absolutely loved it. The spirit, the joy, the fantasy. It's always got me. So I was hoping Euro Disney would be the same. But I quickly realised that the French don't do America with much pride - understandably. The staff weren't very friendly (we got yelled at once which was delightful), the happy Disney spirit was dampened by the cold, and the rides were a tad tame. HOWEVER I'm not complaining, just pointing out the differences, because we had a fantastic day!

A morning Valentines Day gift. Aw thanks Kate.

Je t'aime Minnie.

You could buy toy guns at this Disneyland. I thought this was slightly unusual. What was more unusual were the men dressed in army attire with real guns. French security. A bit much.

I liked this mural. The kind of Disney romanticism I was looking for.

I made the mistake of suggesting we go on the 'Honey I Shrunk The Kids' 3D Movie ride. After standing in a large room where we were forced to watch three long and cheesy Kodak ads, and then sitting through the tame ride, I wasn't in the good books with my peers...

I REALLY wanted to sing with the Dapper Dans - Disneyland's Barbershop Quartet - but couldn't find them anywhere. I think this was because they aren't actually at this Euro Disney.

Space Mountain: Mission 2. A roller coaster in complete darkness. Easily the best ride at the park.

Kate after Space Mountain: Mission 2. She was hysterical!

Kate forced us to all go on the Tea Cups ride. Oli and I spun them ridiculously fast and then I felt very sick.

Big Mountain Thunder. That's us four in the back seats.

The Little Mermaid - the Redhead of Disney.

New Zealand's feature in the 'It's A Small World' ride. Kia Ora.

A beautiful shot of Sleeping Beauty's castle.

The four of us after a great day.

Afterwards we went to Jayne's place for a Valentines Day party. Time passed quickly and 2am was soon approaching (which is the time the Metros stop running) so a lot of us left to catch a ride home. We caught one metro, but missed the rest so caught the bus home.

The bus was jam packed with people!

3.35am arrived at home. Bed time!

  1. Eww, if that's a little Maori doll in the top of that picture it looks freaky and not a good representation of NZ. And if that ride is full of those dolls then I am never going on it - it would be my nightmare come true. Do they move? Yuck. I am freaking out at the thought of being stuck on a ride with a whole lot of animatronic dolls.

  3. Awesome! I wouldn't think that Disney Euro would be as cool as Disneyland, CA - but it's awesome you made it anyway!
