Day Six - 50c Clothing Bins, LOST Marathon, And A Dodgy Room-mate

It snowed again today! But not in a "cool let's make a snowman" kind of way. But more of a "man it's freezing and my clothes are sopping wet" kind of way. Regardless of the weather, Ingeborg and I went to these awesome markets out at Porte de Montrieul. There were stalls selling all kinds of second-hand goods. Lots of cheap clothes! 50c and 1 euro bins. Leather jackets for 5 euros. Stands selling loads of used building tools. Stands with old instruments (that would make great decorations like the big beaten up trumpet I saw) and stands with used computer/electronics gear. We didn't buy much, but it was fun just strolling through.

I also grabbed my lunch at this kebab stand and Ingeborg started chatting with the men who worked there (cause she is fun loving and very friendly) and started talking Hindi to one of the men (she spent six months in India recently) who when we left asked that they please see eachother again and that could he have her number. She didn't give it away...

A view from inside the markets.

Ingeborg = big tease.

The guy on the far right fell in love with Ingeborg.

After the markets we went to a swedish cafe down a little side alley which was really nice. We shared a slice of cake (4 euros - OUCH!) and talked about Norway. Apparently it is surprisingly very similar to New Zealand. Note: The Norwegian language sounds like English on rewind.

I then went home to meet Marieke for a LOST marathon. We watched Season 5 episodes 1 - 4. Life changing.

We went for a walk up the road from my place (I've never gone up, only down) and discovered there's a whole little town just up from my street with a bunch of restaurants and shops all aiming to catch a gaggle of tourists from the Sacre Coeur.

The street up from my place. Very pretty.

I also have a new room-mate as of today. His name is Oliver and he is from Chicago. He is one of the guys that was initially in the apartment before I came but left when the two room-mates had a squabble. Apparently he's had another squabble with the people in the next apartment he moved into as well. So I'm slightly concerned. It seems he might be the root of the issue here... My first impression of him is not good. He completely ignored the friendly instructions I wrote down outlining a simple system for us to share the one set of keys we have for the apartment leaving Marieke and I stranded at the apartment building entrance. He left his rubbish scattered around the flat. And he has an untrustworthy demeanour about him. But I have to live with him for now. So let the adventures begin. I wonder if we will get into a squabble too...
